Background + Training

I received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. The majority of my clinical training before becoming fully licensed was with a top recognized outpatient treatment center on the East coast, facilitating psychotherapy groups for adults in recovery and support groups for families. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I was a Project Manager for a large software company.

In my private practice I work with those that are ready to approach the healing process at the roots level.

I regularly attend trainings and seek consultation from recognized leaders in the mental health field. I view the process of healing as a continuous journey - a way of traveling - not a destination. It would be my privilege to join you.

I deeply value the work and process of growth and while no two people can have the exact same experience, no matter how similar, you can trust that I am committed to this process both personally and professionally.

Approach

During our sessions we will explore themes + patterns that at one time worked very well or were even critical to your survival. Often what brings us to therapy is an awareness that these themes and patterns are no longer serving us and perhaps they have even become harmful. In therapy we will reconcile these themes/patterns with your current intention. Intentionality is a HUGE part of the work.

You can trust that I will provide you with feedback that is honest and authentic and that I will do so with great care and warmth.

This work is difficult and the majority of it happens outside of when we meet as you seek to integrate what emerges during our time together into your daily life, your relationships, and your way of being. You will likely find that having a confidential space without judgment to share parts of yourself that you may find shameful, scary, or "dark" can in and of itself be healing. And even transformative.

I work through a holistic lens, taking into account the mind, body, and spirit connection, and I will encourage you to leverage activities and experiences to support and facilitate healing in your daily life. We will collaborate to ensure the work feels practical, as you develop in your ability to engage outside of your zone of comfort

I consistently take into account the complexity and intersectionality experienced as part of the human condition (both in myself and in those I work with), and the privilege and discrimination that occur as a result of our unique identities.

For those that are interested, I am passionate about including a generational context as a means of exploring inherited ways of interacting in the world from those that came before us. I have found that the inclusion of this context can be a powerful tool in better understanding ourselves and those around us, and allows for deeper healing to occur as compassion and love are cultivated through this understanding. It also empowers us, through awareness, to update and reshape our “inheritance.”

I love working with parents and cycle-breakers who are motivated to re-parent {themselves} and re-pattern, as well as creatives and disruptors that recognize that deep personal work not only improves quality of life and relationships, but also quality of craft.

 Personal

I recently relocated to the Central Coast after living on the East Coast my entire life. My family consists of my partner, our two young kiddos, and our dog and cat. In our free time we enjoy soaking up and exploring all that our new home has to offer. I love writing, reading, traveling, learning how to care for plants, reflecting, connecting with my body through nature, movement, and breath, and I love being near water. I’m in love with the journey.
